Schoppe takes the district's AD reins

La Porte High School principal Todd Schoppe has been named the new director of athletics and physical education for La Porte ISD. In this role, Schoppe will provide leadership for the district’s physical education, health and athletic department for prekindergarten through 12th grades.

La Porte ISD expands District of Innovation plan

The district has made two changes to the Board-approved District of Innovation plan: adding an exemption for teacher certification to include Languages Other Than English (LOTE); and adding flexibility to the teacher appraisal system (T-TESS). Free summer meals for kids and teens

Breakfast and lunch will be available at three La Porte ISD campuses beginning June 5. Please view this article for details. ~ The City of La Porte is also offering free breakfast (8-9 a.m.) and lunch (11 a.m.-1 p.m.) each Mon-Fri between July 3 -
Aug. 11 at the Charles Walker Community Center, 322 N. 4th St. Children 18 and under may participate.

Dual diplomas: La Porte High School grads also earn associate degrees

Twenty-eight La Porte High School graduating seniors will have also earned their associate degrees from San Jacinto College as they walk across the stage to receive their high school diplomas on May 26. The group is the first from LPHS to complete the ACE (Accelerated College Education) program, having started taking college classes in the summer of 2015, just after their sophomore year of high school.
