Rice VSA is proud to be hosting its 14th annual College Leadership Workshop (CLW) on Saturday, October 29th, 2016, from 9:00AM to 4:30PM. This one-day program will include many informative and engaging workshops on the subject of college admissions, financial aid, college application essays, extracurricular activities, and leadership. There will be guest speakers and a campus tour as well. Student participants will be divided into small groups led by current college students from both Rice University and other Houston-area universities, in which they will have the opportunity to learn about student life and to get answers to their questions from current students themselves in a casual setting. In addition, student participants will have the opportunity to have their college application essays reviewed, as well be eligible to win various amounts of scholarship money. Parent participants will be able to attend student workshops, as well as parent workshops made with resources specifically for parents. Although CLW incorporates certain resources that are specific to Asian-American families (e.g. translators, information on Asian-American scholarships), we strongly encourage all interested high school students of all years from all backgrounds and their parents to participate. Last year, we had over 140 students and parents attend! Registration is now open for both student and parent participants at http://riceuniversityvsa.blogs.rice.edu/college-leadership-workshop/ . Registration includes a registration fee of $7 per participant. The registration fee provides each participant with breakfast, lunch, a t-shirt, and all workshops and associated resources. We understand that not everyone is able to pay this registration fee, and we ask any concerned students or parents to contact us at clw@gmail.com so that we can do our best to ensure that anyone can attend our workshop. We would greatly appreciate it if you could share this unique and affordable opportunity with your students, their parents, and your colleagues. Additional information can be found on the CLW webpage at http://riceuniversityvsa.blogs.rice.edu/college-leadership-workshop/ . Please do not hesitate to contact me directly with any additional questions at mtd6@rice.edu We hope to see your students and their parents at our event this fall!
