At Clear Springs, Renfro has also served as special teams coordinator since June 2016. He previously worked at Clear Springs from June 2008 to February 2013, during which he helped to build the program at the new campus as special teams coordinator, linebackers coach and assistant head track coach.
From February 2013 to June 2016, Renfro served as the assistant head football coach and defensive coordinator at San Antonio East Central ISD’s East Central High School, where he also was the districtwide strength and conditioning coach. From 2005 to 2008, he was the defensive backs coach at Seguin High School, where he helped lead the football team to its first playoff appearance in 11 years and first district title in 13 years.
He began his career as defensive coordinator, head basketball coach and head golf coach in Aspermont ISD.
Along the way, Renfro has been a part of eight district football championships and 12 playoff appearances, including one state quarterfinalist appearance. He has coached over 70 First Team All-District players, nine All-State players and two High School All-Americans. Dave Campbell’s Texas Football named him Assistant Coach of the Week during the 2018 regular season.
Renfro was a four-year college letterman at Hardin Simmons University, where he was named All-Conference three times and All-Region twice. In addition, he was a four-time Academic All-Conference player and team captain.
Renfro and his wife Lauren Renfro have two daughters, Hannah and Hadley.
