Bus information, and a reminder about new school hours

Welcome home! We're happy to report that our first day of 2018-19 went smoothly. There were a few bus delays because of the large number of cars that arrived at our campuses to transport children. But the good news is: we're ironing out those little wrinkles and expect improvements each day. We appreciate your patience and understanding and apologize for any inconvenience you might have experienced so far. As always, we're here if you have any questions or concerns.

2018-19 School Hours:
Elementary & James H. Baker Sixth Grade Campus hours: 8:10 a.m. - 3:45 p.m.
Secondary hours: 7:15 a.m. - 2:50 p.m.

**Updated** La Porte ISD Safety and Security Update

La Porte ISD takes the safety of students and staff very seriously. Recent tragedies affecting districts across the nation caused our district leadership team to further evaluate safety protocols at our schools, and steps to further increase safety have been taken over the summer. In keeping with our standard communication practices, when decisions are finalized, we communicate this information on our district website (, on our mobile app, through our callout system, and in local media. Dress code undergoes some changes for 2018-19

Oversized clothing, trench coats and dusters will not be allowed at La Porte ISD campuses when the new school year begins, according to the 2018-19 dress code. The district made several changes to the code as part of its enhanced security plan, which also prohibits purses in excess of eight inches-by-ten inches, and requires that backpacks, satchels and briefcases be clear, transparent or mesh.
