Bulldog golfers named to Academic All-State Team

La Porte High School golfers Akshat Bhakta and Nicholas Murphy have been named to the first and third Texas High School Coaches Association’s Academic All-State Team, respectively.
Bhakta and Murphy wrapped up their high school golfing careers as members of the two-time regional qualifying varsity golf team. As well, they contributed to a school record one-day team score of 316 during the 2021 district tournament.
To be recognized as Academic All-State, student-athletes must have a four-year grade point average of 92 or above, and they must be of good moral character. Class-rank and SAT/ACT scores are also taken into consideration, according to the THSCA website.
