Clean beats: Indoor Drumline snares top 10 rating in regional contest

The La Porte High School Indoor Drumline knows a thing or two about perseverance. The group of marching percussionists on February 29 performed its way to a finalist spot in the Winter Guard International Houston Regional Contest at Klein Oak High School.
After placing eighth in the first round of the contest, La Porte drummed its way up two spots to bring home a sixth-place finish. In doing so, the group outperformed several drumlines from across Texas. The contest also featured an entry from Mississippi.
Drumline season continues at the area contest on March 21 at Pasadena Memorial High School, where bands attempt to qualify for the state contest. Mark Fennell directs the group.
